The Old Courthouse Museum Society was formed in
1977 to help establish an Orange County historical museum and archives in
the Old Orange County Courthouse.
Its purpose is to gather and preserve materials relating to the history of
Orange County. In cooperation with the Orange County Historical Commission,
the Society supports Old Courthouse activities with a docent program,
souvenir sales, exhibits, and publicity, as well as arranging meetings and
other events.
The Society's overall goal is to foster an appreciation of local Orange
County history with a strong emphasis upon education so that young citizens
of the County may gain an appreciation and knowledge of those who passed
this way before.
Members serve as volunteer docents, or assist with programs, publicity, or
collection development. If unable to serve in an active capacity, the
contribution of membership dues helps to support Society activities.
The Society holds at least three regular meetings open to the entire
membership each year with a selected speaker at each meeting. In addition,
members receive notification of activities and special exhibits in the
Exhibit Gallery.
Membership classifications and annual dues include Individual ($10), family
($15), sustaining/ organization ($25), and business ($35).
Send a check for your membership dues as well as your name, address, and
phone number to: Old Courthouse Museum Society, 211 W. Santa Ana Blvd.,
