Whether you're holding a small meeting, wedding,
reception, seminar or other event, the Howe-Waffle House in midtown
Santa Ana offers unique amenities at a convenient location in
the heart of the County seat across from the Old County Courthouse.
This grand 12-room Victorian home was built
in 1889 for one of Orange County's first female physicians. It
has been lovingly restored as a house and medical museum and appropriately
furnished but sensitively updated to meet modern needs. This includes
a small, working kitchen that accommodates the preparation of
simple foods and beverages, and also supports catered events.
The floor plan lends itself beautifully to
a variety of uses. Upon entering the house, one may move from
the large vestibule into two parlours or the formal dining room,
furnished to facilitate business and social functions.
An antique dining room table that comfortably
seats 12 serves as an ideal conference table at which to do strategic
planning, work out budgets and negotiate issues. By utilizing
the kitchen and setting out refreshments on the buffet, your meeting
can proceed in comfort and uninterrupted by the need to leave
the premises for food.
Pocket doors may be closed to separate the
dining room from the adjoining parlours, which also provide the
perfect place for individuals, committees or teams to work separately
but remain in close contact. Period sofas, tables and chairs,
floor coverings and accessories create a serene ambiance that
facilitates creative thinking and conversation.
The area which was Dr. Willella Howe-Waffle's
original office, treatment room and waiting room also is conveniently
located adjacent to the dining room, and guests are encouraged
to browse in this medical museum, which reveals much about the
history--and progress--of medical care during this century.
On the second floor,
four bedrooms and bath
open off of a long narrow hall with a small sitting room at the
west end. These facilities offer additional possibilities for
events, including the perfect place for a bridal party to dress,
then descend the carved staircase to the large vestibule and proceed
into the formal parlour for the wedding ceremony.
Consider, also, expanding your event into
the garden and picturesque gazebo, situated among old fashioned
roses,
Wisteria and other plantings appropriate to the
period. Whether taking a break from your business meeting, or
enjoying refreshments during a social occasion, you will appreciate
the simple beauty of this re-creation of a small Victorian garden.
The Santa Ana Historical Preservation Society
welcomes the opportunity to share this gracious home and medical
museum with the community.
Please note that our house and
garden area are limited in size so larger groups will probably not
find our facilities convenient.

and fees, please call (714) 547-9645 and leave a message
