Tour Pictures from Our
1999 Historical Cemetery Tour
The Santa Ana Historical Preservation Society held our 2nd Annual Harvest Historical Cemetery Tour of Santa Ana Cemetery and Fairhaven Memorial Park on Saturday, October 30, 1999. This family-style historical walking tour featured costumed actors portraying colorful men and women who shaped the destiny of Orange County from the late 1800’s to post-WWII.
The 1 hour guided tour began at Fairhaven Chapel, where fascinating stories of suffragettes, Civil War veterans, ranchers and robbers unfolded as visitors strolled through the lush greenery of Santa Ana and Fairhaven Cemeteries. Along the way, they met entrepreneur David Hewes and discovered the treasures of
Anapama. They met pioneer physician Dr. Willella Howe-Waffle while observing the first volunteer Fire Department rescue Miss Kitty. Visitors lent an ear to tales of Burruel Point and met Sheriff Lacy. Jennie Lasby-Tessman explored women’s contributions to the world of astronomy.
Proceeds benefited the preservation activities of the Santa Ana Historical Preservation Society, including the maintenance of the Dr. Howe-Waffle House property. This event is sponsored through the generosity of Fairhaven Memorial Park, Funeraria Latina Familiar de Santa Ana, and
Anapauma.
